When I pulled into the Phoenix Plaza in St. George, I was surprised to see that a new restaurant occupied the space of one of my former favorite eateries. Made in Brazil, a Brazilian steakhouse, has beautifully remodeled the space and has quickly become a favorite lunch and dinner spot for locals and visitors.

Owner C. J. Wade and manager Jared Lish greeted me as I walked in. I quickly commented on how tasteful and elegant the restaurant looked. I was told that C. J. brought most of the artwork decorating the walls from Brazil after serving a mission there for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Wade family is well known in the automobile world and has been successful as car retailers in Salt Lake City and St. George. C. J. explained that he loves Brazilian food and customs. He was convinced that an up-scale Brazilian steakhouse would do well in Washington County. He secured his fine location and hired a competent chief. Jared told me the chef, Anna, is a jewel, especially because she prepares traditional recipes spanning three generations of her family.

The food is delicious and plentiful. The salad bar features more than 25 hot and cold selections. Servers come to each table holding large skewers of barbecued meats and vegetables. Lunch has 10 varieties while dinner has 13. I tasted perfectly seasoned chicken, ham, pork, and lamb. Beer and wine are available as well as an extensive dessert menu. Tables come equipped with cues that diners can use to signal their server. Red means "no more"; green means "keep it coming"; and placing it on its side signals "check please."

Made in Brazil is a favorite for all kinds of diners, including private parties and weddings because it offers delicious food in an elegant atmosphere.
