LOS ANGELES, Dec 17, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Despite having only taken up acting four years ago, 97-year-old Mae Laborde is thriving in her career as a U.S. film and TV actress.
The Los Angeles Times said Laborde has received a constant stream of acting opportunities since she took up the craft at the age of 93, and her agent maintains that her elderly client loves her work.
"I have more fun representing her than any other client," Sherri Spillane explained. "If she doesn't hear from me for a few days, she calls and says, 'I haven't heard from you, and I want to go out on another audition.'"
While the 97-year-old has only four years of experience, those who have worked with her admit having assumed Laborde was an acting veteran, the paper said.
"Her timing is exquisite," said Alicia Alexander, a production manager who worked with Laborde on a recent promotion. "It's not like she just (mugs) the expression. She turns into it just right, so it looks real."
