FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) -Dezmon Harris and David Patten combined for 10 points in overtime and Weber State defeated Alaska to a 71-66 Thursday in the opening round of the BP Top of the World Classic.
Patten led the Wildcats (1-1) with 14 points, including six in overtime.
The Nanooks' Jushay Rockett led all scorers with 32 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
Division II Alaska (4-2) led 33-30 at the half and by seven points early in the second period. But with 14 minutes remaining, the Wildcats started a 20-3 run and led 58-48 with six minutes remaining.
The Nanooks fought back and Colin Matteson hit a jumper just inside the three-point line to tie the game at 60-60 with a minute remaining in regulation. Weber State's Harris missed a jumper inside the foul line as time expired.
In overtime, Harris hit two field goals in the first minute and the Wildcats shot 5-for-6 from the field. The Nanooks hit three free throws but missed six straight shots from the field until hitting a 3-pointer as time expired.
Arturas Valeika pulled down seven rebounds for Weber State.
