'Major' rockfall closes section of Zion National Park

SPRINGDALE, Washington County — A section of Zion National Park was closed Wednesday afternoon due to a "major" rockfall, according to park officials.

The Zion Canyon Visitors Bureau said the rockfall took place on the part of state Route 9 that runs through the park. This area will remain closed until further notice.

Park officials did not report any injuries related to the event.
