PROVO — Ever since she returned from a globetrotting professional career in Italy, Poland and Brazil, former BYU women's volleyball Roni Jones-Perry has raved to anyone who would listen about the unique home-court advantage she experienced at her alma mater.
There's been plenty of overlap between BYU volleyball fans and new fans of LOVB Salt Lake, the League One Volleyball franchise that plays its home games at Bruin Arena on the campus of Salt Lake Community College.
But Jones-Perry hopes to show there's even more Saturday afternoon.
LOVB Salt Lake, which leads the LOVB standings in the second season with a 6-1 record, will face LOVB Nebraska at 3 p.m. MST Saturday at BYU's Smith Fieldhouse.
"I'm just really excited," Jones-Perry said. "I've told so many people since I finished playing there that there is no place quite like playing at BYU. I'm really hopeful that we get a big crowd, that it's loud, and it's rowdy in there. I'm just really excited to be back in my home gym."
Jones-Perry is one of three BYU alums on LOVB Salt Lake's roster, which also includes former BYU star Alexa Gray and defensive specialist Mary Lake. Former Utah standout Dani Drews is also on the roster, though the former Brighton High star hasn't played since announcing she was pregnant with her first child.
Gray had 21 kills and 14 digs in a 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 25-16 win Thursday night over LOVB Madison, the club's fifth consecutive win and league-high sixth victory over the year.

Next up is a return to college campus that Gray was sure she had left in the past when she graduated in 2015.
"I really never thought I would have an official game there again," she said in Madison. "It's going to be really fun, maybe a little emotional. But I'm really excited to get in front of some of the fans that were there even when I was in college. They're diehard volleyball fans, and it's really exciting."
Gray, the former two-time West Coast Conference player of the year and three-time All-American who returned stateside after a decade-long professional career in South Korea, Italy and Türkiye, is one of just three newcomers to a roster that finished fourth in the six-team league a year ago.
But LOVB Salt Lake has plenty of talent. There's two-time Olympic medalist Jordyn Poulter, arguably the best setter in the league who made history as the first player to win offensive and defensive player of the week in the same week.
Heidy Casanova and Tori Dixon provide size up front, Claire Hoffman is a versatile outside hitter also known for her defense, and Manami Kojima has been unofficially called the best libero in the world and officially the reigning League One Volleyball libero of the year.
It's all added up to five consecutive wins that has Salt Lake staring down from atop the standings of the league that will add franchises in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Minnesota to teams in Nebraska, Madison, Atlanta, Houston and Austin.
"We do get along well as a group, and I think that helps," Poulter said. "We've also got some team tenants as a group that we stick to, and then I think we've just been trying to get better every day. Sometimes that doesn't look or feel great in practice, but we're able to use what we're working on and translate it to a match.
"I think we can put in a lot of people who can make a difference and help us win. I think our group is pretty flexible at being able to adapt and adjust."
Saturday's match will be broadcast on Victory+ and tickets are available through byutickets.com.
