PROVO — What has to be perhaps the most anticipated men's basketballs season in Utah state history — for a variety of reasons at two particular in-state schools — was finalized Tuesday when the Big 12 released its conference schedule for all 16 teams.
That means the Runnin' Utes have their first season under new head coach Alex Jensen, while BYU's Kevin Young enters Year 2 with a dynamic class led by top recruit AJ Dybantsa and returning All-Big 12 selection Richie Saunders.
The Cougars will open conference play Jan. 3 in Manhattan, Kansas, against Kansas State followed by the home opener Wednesday, Jan. 7 against Arizona State. Just three days later, they'll get on a bus for Salt Lake City for the first of two meetings with the rival Utes.
The return tilt won't take long this year, with Utah re-paying the visit to Provo on Saturday, Jan. 24 in the Marriott Center. As was previously announced, the Cougars will also host a Big Monday game Jan. 26 on ESPN against Arizona.

The Runnin' Utes will open Big 12 play Saturday, Jan. 3 at home against Arizona, followed by a road trip to Rocky Mountain rival Colorado on Jan. 7. Other key home dates include Houston on Feb. 10, Iowa State on Feb. 24, and the regular-season home finale March 3 against the Buffs.
