CEDAR CITY — Trinity Dorris, the Canyon View Middle School student who was critically injured when she was struck by a vehicle on I-15 on April 4, continues to make remarkable strides in her recovery.

At a small, informal gathering held recently at the Johnson Center in Cedar City, Trinity and her family members greeted various friends and well-wishers and thanked them for their support. It took place on May 3, almost exactly one month from the date of the incident that almost cost Trinity her life.

During the event, Cedar City News spoke with Trinity's parents, Charles and Bridget Dorris. Charles had his own brush with death just six months earlier when he was injured in a fall down a mine shaft and spent several weeks recovering from a severe brain injury.

The Dorris family expressed their appreciation for the amount of community support the family has received in the wake of both traumatic events.
