SALT LAKE CITY โ Utah football returns to the Rose Bowl against UCLA to kickoff its 2025 season, with two starting quarterbacks looking to bring their respective programs back to the spotlight.
The season-opener for both schools earned a national broadcast designation on FOX on Saturday, Aug. 30 (9 p.m. MDT) as former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava (UCLA) and former New Mexico quarterback Devon Dampier (Utah) battle it out on the field in the late-night game.
Both Utah and UCLA had disappointing 2024 seasons after recent individual successes in the Pac-12 as former division rivals; but with new offensive personnel each program enters the 2025 season with an optimistic outlook.
Utah has won six of its last seven games against the Bruins, and will look to jumpstart its season with a win in Week 1 against a Big Ten opponent.
The Utes return home to Salt Lake City the next week for a home-opener against FCS Cal Poly in the first meeting between the two programs. That game at Rice-Eccles Stadium will kickoff at 4 p.m. MDT on Sept. 6 and will air on ESPN+.
Utah then goes back on the road the next week to take on former Mountain West Conference foe Wyoming on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. MDT (CBS Sports Network) for the final nonconference game of the season.
The home-and-home series with Wyoming was scheduled in 2017. The series' first leg was supposed to have been played in 2020, but the COVID-19 outbreak forced the two schools to push the series back five years. Utah will welcome the Cowboys to Rice-Eccles Stadium on Sept. 4, 2027.
Utah's Black Friday game, the school's final game of the season, will be played in Lawrence, Kansas, on Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. MDT, with that game being played on either ABC or ESPN.
The Big 12 slate, which begins with Utah welcoming Texas Tech to Rice-Eccles Stadium on Sept. 20, will have the standard 6-12 day notice of game times and TV designations that have been common in the sport for years.
