ST. GEORGE — A hunter discovered human remains on Cedar Mountain that were later confirmed to belong to Courtney Lynne Townsend.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office was notified on May 8 that the hunter found the remains about a mile from where Townsend's partial remains were initially found in May 2024, Sheriff's Deputy Alan Alldredge wrote in a press release issued Monday afternoon.

A deputy retrieved the recently discovered remains. A search for additional remains was conducted the next day, and nothing new was found, Alldredge wrote.

A post on the Facebook group "Justice for Courtney" claims law enforcement recovered a skull.
