SALT LAKE CITY — The greatest snow on earth isn't just a slogan.
For Utah-based ski company DPS Skis, it's an invitation and a vehicle for the premier skis the company designs and manufacturers in downtown Salt Lake City.
The company got its start in 2005, with the "goal back then of trying to make the best powder skis in the world," said co-founder Peter Turner.
And for 20 years, DPS Skis has been designing and manufacturing premium skis that have won customers over throughout the world. But the unique advantage the company has is that it can do it all with the slopes minutes away.
A new ski can be dreamed up in the morning, and by afternoon that product can be tested out in the mountains that surround the Salt Lake Valley.
"To make a ski from scratch, it is something that we actually pride ourselves in," said Thomas Laakso, senior vice president of DPS Skis. "We kind of reference it as press to peak."
To hear how the company got its start, how the design and manufacture process comes together, and why Olympian Ted Ligety came on board to help develop a new brand of skis, watch their story above.
