PROVO — Kevin Young has added to his first-year frontcourt at BYU.
On the same day the program officially added former Snow College center Max Triplett, the Cougars also received a commitment from Senagalese forward Khadim Mboup, the 6-foot-9 wing announced on Instagram.
Mboup was a top-rated combo forward in the Class of 2025 out of NBA Academy Africa, but will reclassify to the Class of 2024 and join the Cougars for the 2024-25 season, per On3's Joe Tipton, who first reported the commitment.
The 17-year-old forward (who will turn 18 in September) takes up the 13th scholarship on the program's roster, and immediately bolsters the depth of a frontcourt that includes returning starter Fousseyni Traore, Utah transfer Keba Keita, Rutgers transfer Mawot Mag, and four-star freshman Brody Kozlowski.
So, too, does Triplett, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound walk-on from Huntsville who averaged 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last year for the Badgers en route to a 21-7 record and all-Scenic West West Athletic Conference second-team honors.
Triplett also appeared in 30 games as a freshman at Snow after serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina.
"We are excited to add Max to our group at BYU," Young said. "He had a great career at Snow and has been very well coached. He adds experience, size, and depth to our frontcourt. On top of being a great student-athlete, Max is a great young man. We are thrilled to welcome him and his wife Autumn to BYU."
