MURRAY — A teenager was hospitalized in critical condition Saturday after a gun went off inside a vehicle at a fast food restaurant parking lot.

About 6:30 p.m., Murray police responded to reports of a shooting at McDonald's, 4452 S. 300 West.

"It turned out that there were three teenagers in the vehicle. They had a gun in the vehicle and the gun had discharged and struck one of the teenagers," said Murray police spokeswoman Kristin Reardon.

The injured teen was transported in "very critical condition." It is not clear whether the shooting was accidental or what events led up to the gun discharging.

Investigators were reviewing security footage from the area and processing the vehicle. The teens involved in the incident were interviewed by police Saturday night, Reardon added.
