SEATTLE — Paris Dawson hit a pair of free throws with 21 seconds left to allow Seattle U to hold off a Utah Valley comeback and earn a 62-61 victory on Friday night.
Cameron Tyson scored 16 points on 5 of 14 shooting, including 2 for 9 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 4 from the line to lead the Redhawks (12-8, 5-4 Western Athletic Conference). Alex Schumacher scored 15 points, shooting 6 for 9 (2 for 3 from 3-point range) and 1 of 5 from the free throw line. Brandton Chatfield shot 4 of 9 from the field and 4 for 5 from the line to finish with 12 points.
The Wolverines (9-11, 4-5) were led in scoring by Caleb Stone-Carrawell, who finished with 14 points. Trevin Dorius added 10 points for Utah Valley. Drake Allen also had nine points.
These two teams both play Thursday. Seattle U visits Grand Canyon and Utah Valley visits SFA.
