HARRISVILLE, Weber County — A Walmart employee was critically injured when she was run over by a vehicle on Thursday in Weber County.
Shortly before noon, North View Fire District received a report of a pedestrian hit by a car at the Harrisville Walmart at 534 N. Harrisville Road. The woman was found pinned under a vehicle when emergency crews arrived.
The Walmart employee was cleaning the fuel tank access points next to the fuel pumps when she was hit, assistant police chief Dennis Moore said. She was wearing a yellow safety vest, but it can be difficult to see her when she is crouched down cleaning, he added.
Moore said a driver had just finished filling a car up with gas and was driving away when she made a sharp right turn and ran the employee over.
Firefighters extricated the woman from under the vehicle and started CPR. The woman was taken to a hospital in traumatic cardiac arrest but has since been stabilized, Moore said.
The driver stayed at the scene after the crash and was cooperating with the investigation.
Harrisville police said the Walmart is closed and will reopen on Friday.
