AROUND THE SHIELD — After spending an extra month of his 10th NFL season as a free agent, former BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy had one thing to prove when he was added to the Baltimore Ravens.

"I've bounced around the last four years, and I think people were saying, 'Why does he keep getting moved around, he must not be good,'" Van Noy told reporters after signing with the Ravens' practice squad Sept. 27. "Honestly, I've played well everywhere I've been, and I think that's been a misconception about me.

"Every team I play for, I make plays. That's the standard I've held myself to. And I win more than I lose. That's my attitude. Watching football wasn't fun, especially when you know you could be out there helping a lot of teams. The Ravens called and I felt like it was an awesome opportunity."

Three days after signing with the practice squad, Van Noy was elevated to the active roster and made three quarterback hurries, a QB hit and a pass defended in 23 snaps of his Ravens debut in Week 4, a 28-3 win over Cleveland.

Two weeks later, the former BYU linebacker had his first sack with Baltimore in the Ravens' 24-16 win over the Tennessee Titans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound edge rusher started at the "rush end" position, a hybrid defensive end/linebacker tasked with one thing: getting after the quarterback.

Van Noy obliged, which is no surprise to anyone who knows the 32 year old from Reno, Nevada, who has 34.5 sacks in his career. Creating havoc is what he does.

The Ravens spent an entire week in London to acclimate to the time change and lengthy travel of the NFL's international series, and it paid off with a large Baltimore flock that arrived at the home of the Premier League's Spurs.

And it made quite the impression on Van Noy.

"On the real tho Ravens fans be traveling traveling!" he wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. "They were loud across the (pond)! We on to Detroit at the crib."
