CEDAR CITY — One man is dead and another man is in critical condition following a crash involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle in Cedar City Friday night.
Cedar City police and Utah Highway Patrol responded to a crash at the intersection of 2400 North and state Route 130 at 9:39 p.m. A 77-year-old man from Washington City who was driving a pickup truck was treated by medical personnel but succumbed to his injuries, Cedar City police Lt. Justin Ludlow said. The man's identity will not be released until family has been notified.
A 27-year-old motorcyclist was treated by first responders prior to being flown to a hospital in critical condition, Ludlow said.
Police believe the truck failed the right of way as he was headed north on the S.R. 130 from 2900 North, and the motorcycle collided with the truck driver-side door. The truck continued moving even after the collision, hitting the gutter on the east side of the highway and running into the vacuums at the Tagg and Go car wash at 3000 North.
"The Cedar City Police Department would like to extend its sympathies to the victim's family for their loss," Ludlow said.
