Art is a powerful medium. Perhaps you've been so touched by a painting, print or sculpture that it moved you to tears. Works of art can convey feelings, emotions and meanings that words can't express.
Since 1991, local artist Tom Holdman's company Holdman Studios has been creating art glass projects worldwide with that purpose in mind. These commissioned pieces — each unique in style and flare — range from commercial buildings to private residences to religious installations and public art projects.
"As stained glass masters, we create art that inspires, and as the light shines through, it touches your soul like no other art form," the Holdman Studios mission statement reads.
After creating the stunning stained glass masterpiece "Roots of Knowledge" for Utah Valley University, Holdman felt inspired to create The Roots of Humanity Foundation in 2017. The foundation's purpose is to "[work] through art and education to foster esteem, connection and creativity within individuals while unifying and inspiring communities."

Together, Holdman Studios and The Roots of Humanity Foundation have commissioned several beautiful works of art. Recent projects include the "Come Unto Me" window found in the Rome Italy Temple Visitors' Center, "The Seven Pillars Windows" and more.
And now, Holdman Studios and The Roots of Humanity Foundation want to bring some of that uplifting art into your own home.
As you're searching for meaningful, inspiring gifts to give your loved ones this holiday season, here are a few ideas that will touch the hearts of anyone on your list — young or old.
Windows of Heaven
For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, nothing is more sacred or beautiful than the temple. These temple-inspired, mini stained glass windows from Holdman Studios provide beautiful reminders of these holy buildings. Aptly named the "Windows of Heaven," each of these carries a distinct design unique to the temple it represents. While a majority of the collection features local temples here in Utah, you'll also find windows for Nauvoo, Tokyo, Paris and Rome, among others.
'The Piece That is You' children's book
Written by best-selling author Gayle Holdman, "The Piece That is You" makes a great gift for both children and adults. It's a story of belonging, overcoming challenges, teamwork, unity, human worth and potential — and, of course, the power of art.
Based on real-life experiences, the book teaches children to have more confidence in themselves and to feel that they have a place and purpose in this world. Through the words and artwork of the book, children will walk away inspired to make the world a better place.
One excerpt perfectly encapsulates the takeaway message: "Always be kind and work hard. Do your best. Your life can brighten the lives of the rest. Something awesome can come from what you do too! The world will be blessed by the piece that is you."
'The Piece That is You' puzzle

New this year, Holdman Studios and The Roots of Humanity Foundation have released a 300-piece puzzle to go along with the book "The Piece That is You." It's a great hands-on way to help children (or yourself) apply what they learn from the book as they see how each beautiful piece comes together to create a bigger picture.
