PLEASANT GROVE — Skyridge couldn't be stopped Thursday night.

The Falcons throttled the home team Pleasant Grove from start to finish in a 42-0 win.

"The offense just executed really well from the start," Skyridge head coach Jon Lehman said. "We created a couple takeaways and were able to open it up a bit."

Skyridge quarterback Trent Call passed for three touchdowns for the Falcons, which included an 87-yard pass to Carter Sheffield and a 55-yard pass to La'Akea Kalama for scores, and ran for another touchdown of his own.

"(Trent) did his job. He didn't try to do too much and just got the ball to our playmakers in space," Lehman said of his quarterback. "I'm really proud of how he's learning and thinking through the game right now."

Kyle Valdez caught a touchdown for the Falcons, as well, while Kalama added a 7-yard rushing score in the third quarter to put the final nail in Pleasant Grove's coffin for the night.

On defense, Skyridge linebacker Collin Sheffield pulled down two interceptions, and returned the first for a 53-yard pick-six touchdown — his third touchdown of the season.

"Every week it seems like he's in passing lanes and making big plays," Lehman said of Sheffield. "The kid studies, prepares and works really hard. He leads us in big plays."

The early offensive explosion was a welcome change for Skyridge (8-1), who had to fight back on a dramatic 21-point fourth quarter comeback at Lone Peak a week prior.

"Whether we win by 40 or win by 1, we're just happy with the execution," Lehman said.

The Falcons wrap up the regular season Wednesday at home against American Fork.
