CEDAR CITY — A severe thunderstorm that passed through northern Iron County on Sunday afternoon and evening brought hail and heavy rain to several areas.
Enoch City manager Rob Dotson told Cedar City News that the storm dumped nearly 2 inches of rain, along with accumulations of hail as deep as 6 inches in some locations.
"Some streets were almost full of water, as they are built to do," Dotson said. "There were a few reports of water inside homes from overfilled rain gutters and property slopes. Compared to last year, there were very few and minor problems."
Many local residents took to social media and posted photos and video clips of hail falling on their property. Most of the hailstones appeared to be the size of rock salt or pebbles but some were larger, almost golf ball-sized. Some people reported flooding in their yards or damage to their roofs or vehicles.
