MOAB — A woman whose body was found at Arches National Park over the weekend has been identified.
Park staff members and Grand County sheriff's deputies recovered the body in the Devils Garden Area of the park just before 7 p.m. on Oct. 1, according to Kaitlyn Thomas, the park's spokeswoman. The woman's body was sent to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner in Taylorsville for an autopsy.
The woman has been identified as 33-year-old Ekaterina Yaroslavna Ksenjek of Arlington, Virginia, Thomas said in a statement Wednesday. "The cause of death has not been determined, and the investigation is still ongoing."
The Grand County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation into the case, Thomas added.
Arches National Park touts Devils Garden as one of its "premier locations," offering views of the arches and spires in the park, including Landscape Arch. It's a popular location for hiking, backpacking, stargazing and camping.
