Therapists and counselors provide a critical resource to individuals and families in need, but it seems their own needs aren't being met in their profession. The Journal of Clinical Psychology notes that more than half of the country's psychotherapists reported burnout symptoms — and that was before the pandemic started.

If you're a therapist or a counselor who feels burnt out a majority of the time, you can take comfort in the fact that you're not alone — or you can start something new at a place you'll never want to leave.

At Utah Behavior Services, you'll find that the professionals and staff members love their job because it's refreshingly different from other counseling centers. Their mission focuses on giving children the tools for success and developing strong families by providing high quality, evidence-based behavioral health care services. They fulfill this by focusing on five core values: excellence, tenacity, resilience, strengthening families, and teamwork.

When you're a part of the UTBS team, you're part of a group of people just like you who are willing to help with anything you may need along the way. (That's a luxury many private practices don't have.) UTBS doesn't just care for the mental wellbeing of their patients — employees are a top priority as well! You can expect unmatched support from supervisors as well as self-care plans and other benefits that make working there feel more like a fulfilling career than an average job.

Here's what employees are saying about UTBS

If you want to know what it's like to work for UTBS, all you need to do is ask the staff. Many will tell you that they noticed a positive difference early on.

"From the moment I walked in the door for my interview, I could tell that UTBS was different," says Allison Phillips, LCSW, BCBA, LBA. therapist/behavior analyst, quality assurance specialist. "I feel as though my whole family is loved and appreciated by UTBS, and that makes me feel like a valued team member."

Deborah Hayes, RBT and academic case manager, adds, "From my first interview I had a great warm fuzzy experience. I love how UTBS provides success for clients and provides each with opportunities to do their best. UTBS is a dream because it merges the best with the best!"

Whether it's working with inspiring team members or having plenty of opportunities to advance their careers, employees have several reasons for sticking around.

For Amanda Klein, LCSW, BCaBA, LaBA, director - therapist/assistant behavior analyst, moving up into a director position taught her that providing employees with the skills and resources they need was one of the best things she could do for clients.

"Being able to work alongside my staff members and witnessing their skills and confidence grow is so rewarding and fun to watch their hard work pay off," Klein says. "I love watching their confidence and love for this field grow."
