SALT LAKE CITY — On the heels of the Cougars' dominant performance over the Utes, three BYU fans have more to celebrate after they finished the week sweeping the top three spots of KSL.com College Football Pick'em in Week 2.
The second weekend of college football was full of entertaining games, including BYU ending Utah's nine-game winning streak and Utah State making a comeback to rout North Dakota. Additionally, there were several upsets this weekend, which led to only five users of Pick'em going a perfect 5-0 this week — thanks for nothing Texas!
Nobody — well, only a slight few — appeared to have believed in Oregon's chances against Ohio State. Only 7% of the overall picks had the Ducks going into Columbus and beating the Buckeyes. Similarly, only 9% of the overall picks predicted Arkansas to top Texas — welcome to the SEC Longhorns.
Locally, 94% of the picks expected Utah State to beat North Dakota, and only 35% of the picks expected BYU to stop the streak and beat rival Utah.
But in the end, it was three BYU fans that came out on top with the most points scored this weekend. Devin Solie, who scored and incredible 230 points this week, finished the weekend in first place and won a $100 Visa gift card from Goldenwest Credit Union. Behind Solie in the weekend's rankings was Quin Soderquist (225 pts.) and Michael Sroufe (220 pts.), who won a $70 and $30 Visa gift card, respectively.
Not only did BYU fans sweep the top prizes this week, they also lead the week with an average of 20.1 points, followed behind Aggies fans' 13.4 points and Utah's 10.2 points. Cougars fans also lead the overall fan base, with an average score of 19.6, which tops Utah State fans' 16.3 and Utah's 14.5.
Each week's first-, second- and third-place winners will get a $100, $70 and $30 Visa gift card, respectively, courtesy of Goldenwest Credit Union. The overall winners of Pick'em will receive a $500 gift card for first place, a $250 gift card for second place and a $100 gift card for third place.
