6400 Fire near Fruitland in Duchesne County is 100% contained

The 6400 Fire, which began Sunday near Fruitland in Duchesne County, was 100% contained by Tuesday, state and local fire officials reported through Utah Fire Info.The 255-acre human-caused blaze destroyed one home and damaged two others on Sunday.

Upper Provo Fire near Kamas 84% contained

The Upper Provo Fire, which began July 31 near Kamas, was 84% contained as of Tuesday. The human-caused fire remained under investigation Tuesday and had been mapped at 480 acres.The fire previously closed Mirror Lake Highway but it had reopened by Tuesday. To date, 570,934 gallons of water have been dumped on the fire by helicopters in addition to 7,678 gallons of retardant by planes and 6.7 miles of hose line has been placed around the fire, fire officials said. The local Heber-Kamas District had taken over the fire as of Tuesday morning.
