50-acre fire burning north of St. George threatens structures

An estimated 50-acre wildfire started Monday evening north of St. George, fire officials said.The fire, named the Turkey Farm Road Fire, threatened a few structures and officials said fire crews were making good progress toward containment just before 11 p.m.Shortly after the fire was reported, officials said it wasn't threatening structures. However, a short time later officials said the fire was threatening a few structures.

Goshen Canyon Fire 50% contained; all evacuations lifted

The Goshen Canyon Fire was 50% contained by 10:15 p.m. on Monday and all evacuations had been lifted, fire officials said. Investigators confirmed the fire was caused by a cigarette on Monday night.

Fire in Vernal threatens 1 structure

An estimated 50-60 acre fire burning in Vernal on Monday night threatened one structure, Utah Fire Info officials confirmed.The fire, named the Allen Draw Fire, was reported about 8 p.m. northeast of Vernal.The blaze was burning through timber and its cause was under investigation.

Officials: Abbot Fire likely lightning-caused; 0% contained

The Abbot Fire, which began burning 10 miles southwest of Duchesne on Monday, was estimated to be 20-30 acres as of 7 p.m.Earlier in the evening fire officials had estimated it had grown to 100 acres — as of 7:45 p.m. it had not been officially mapped.No structures were threatened and officials suspect the blaze was caused by lightning.By 7:40 p.m., crews had established an anchor point and were building a line along the fire’s flanks.

The #AbbottFire is burning 10 mi SW of Duchesne. Federal, state & local crews on scene. 20-30 acres in size. No structures threatening. Crews suspect it was caused by lightning caused.

Veyo West Fire grows to 50 acres; road closures ordered

Just before 6 p.m. the Veyo West Fire had grown to an estimated 50 acres — just an hour earlier it had been an estimated 10 acres, fire officials reported.Some road closures were also ordered in response to the blaze.Secondary roads west of state Route 18 and north of Gunlock Road were closed as of 5:50 p.m.Evacuations on the west side of Veyo remained in place as of 5:50 p.m. and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.

Abbot Fire grows to estimated 100 acres

The Abbot Fire, which was estimated at 3-5 acres about 3 p.m., had grown to an estimate 100 acres by 5:45 p.m.The fire, which began in Duchesne County on Monday, had slowed some over the two hours and aircrafts were working to put the head of the fire out.Two hotshot crews had been ordered to fight the fire as well, fire officials said.

Forward progression stopped on 215-acre Goshen Fire

The Goshen Fire had been stopped by 5:30 p.m. and was estimated to be 215 aces, fire officials said.Two homes remained evacuated at that time and fire officials expected those evacuations to be lifted later Monday evening.The investigation into the fire’s cause remained ongoing, Utah Fire Info officials said, although the Utah County Fire Marshal had said earlier the fire was caused by a cigarette in dry grass.

Estimated 10-acre fire burning near Veyo; evacuations ordered

Evacuations were ordered Monday afternoon in response to an estimated 10-acre wildfire burning near Veyo in Washington County.The Veyo West Fire threatened structures on the west side of the town.Air and ground resources were responding as of 5 p.m.

Utah County officials: Goshen Canyon Fire caused by cigarette dropped on dry grass

Monday's Goshen Canyon Fire was caused by a cigarette dropped on dry grass, the Utah County Fire Marshal reported. However, Utah Fire officials later said the cause of the fire remained under investigation.

New fire burning in Duchesne County

An estimated 3-5 acre fire burned on Monday afternoon near Indian Canyon, fire officials reported.The fire, named the Abbot Fire, wasn’t threatening structures as of 3:25 p.m. but officials said the blaze was growing.The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Structures threatened in estimated 30-acre Goshen Canyon Fire

Firefighters responded to an estimated 30-acre fire in Goshen Canyon on Monday just before 3 p.m.One structure had been evacuated as of 3 p.m. and other structures were threatened.The blaze was moving southeast, fire officials said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Crews expected to fully contain Crestwood Fire in Millcreek today

Crews today are expected to fully contain the Crestwood Fire, burning near the mouth of Millcreek Canyon.The fire started Saturday and was caused by arcing power lines, state and federal fire officials reported through Utah Fire Info. It is currently 4.55 acres and 90% contained, officials said.
