MURRAY — A teen was taken to a hospital Wednesday evening with critical injuries following a car crash on I-15, Utah Highway Patrol troopers said.

The 15-year-old male passenger was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, troopers said.

The 19-year-old driver of a white Subaru was southbound on I-15 a little after 6 p.m. when he attempted to change lanes between a dump truck and a concrete pumper truck near 5400 South, troopers said. The rear driver’s side of the Subaru clipped the dump truck, causing the Subaru to spin out and hit the concrete pumper’s rear corner.

During the spin, the 15-year-old passenger was ejected, UHP Sgt. Nick Street said.

The driver’s condition was not known, but troopers said he was conscious after the crash.

I-15 southbound at 5300 South was closed for several hours as officials reconstructed the accident. It had reopened as of Thursday morning, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
