GARDEN CITY — A semitruck crashed into a storage unit Thursday, in the same area where a semitruck driver died after crashing into a sporting goods store in October.
Thursday, a semitruck hauling chocolate milk was driving downhill when the brakes overheated and the driver was unable to stop at the stop sign near the intersection of U.S. Highway 89 and state Route 30, Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry said.

The driver drove through the intersection and rolled into the area where a sporting goods store destroyed in October used to stand, Perry said.
The semi then crashed into a storage facility, Perry said. He said the unit hit was destroyed.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, Perry said. No one else was injured in the incident, he said.
UHP is investigating the crash. Perry noted this crash was a “very similar situation” to last year’s crash that demolished Pugstones Sporting and killed Ahmed M. Abdelgader, the driver of the semitruck.
He added that if Pugstones Sporting hadn’t been demolished, the truck Thursday would have crashed right into it.
