SALT LAKE CITY — For the third time in the past six years, the Weber State men’s basketball program will have an alumni game. This year’s event will be hosted by Wildcats alum Damian Lillard, of the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers.

The game will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, with the first event of the night starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Dee Events Center. Lillard will be competing alongside other alumni in a shooting stars contest and a 3-point shootout. The evening will end with an alumni game.

Lillard will be joined on the court by Jermaine Boyette, Harold Arceneaux, Jimmy DeGraffenried, David Patten, Kyle Bullinger, Ryan Cuff, Pat Danley, John Hamilton, Nick Hansen, Darin Mahoney, Frank Otis, Steve Panos, Walt Tyler and Chris Woods, among others.

“It’s a real good feeling to come back and give these fans what they want to see,” Boyette told the Standard Examiner during the 2017 Classic. “I’m extremely thankful and extremely happy to come out when I can. I’m glad that I’m still healthy. I look good, but I tell you, running up and down the court ain’t as easy as it used to be.”

In 2017, Otis, Nic Sparrow and Lewis Lofton won the shooting stars competition while Davion Berry took home the 3-point contest, according to the Standard Examiner. On the same evening, the program retired Lillard’s No. 1 jersey.

With Weber State, Lillard played for three years as a guard. He scored 1,934 points, which is second-best in school history and fifth-best in the Big Sky Conference. He leads the program with 246 made 3-pointers, 520 made free throws, as well as shooting 86.7% for free throws.

Lillard will participate in both of the earlier shooting events, and he will be a coach during the following alumni game.

Tickets to the event will be $5 for general admission.
