BRIGHAM CITY — A Brigham City man died after he was struck by a minivan Tuesday morning, police said.
Brigham City police said Kelly Benson, 33, died from injuries suffered in the collision.
Emergency crews responded to a report of an auto-pedestrian accident at 700 N. Main St. shortly after 6:30 a.m., according to Brigham City Police Lt. James Crapse. A man driving a minivan was traveling south on Main Street and struck Benson as he was crossing the street at 700 North.
"It was a little bit dark, and the pedestrian was crossing the street from east to west. He had almost completed crossing but was struck by the vehicle going southbound," Crapse said.
Benson was killed on impact, Crapse added.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene of the crash and was cooperating with officers. Benson was wearing dark clothing and the driver told police he couldn't see him, Crapse said.
Police added there were no indications of impairment and they didn't believe speed played a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
