BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Ronshad Shabazz hit 7 of 10 shots from deep to finish with 29 points and fuel Appalachian State's 99-60 rout of NAIA-member Milligan to extend its nonconference home winning streak to 12 games on Thursday night.
The Mountaineers (5-7) close out the nonconference portion of their schedule December 30 at Saint Louis. They now have five straight wins at home this season.
Appalachian State took a 40-31 advantage into intermission, then outscored the Buffaloes 59-29 over the final 20 minutes by hitting 13 of 26 shots from deep and 37 of 68 (54.4 percent) overall from the field. Isaac Johnson contributed 20 points, dished seven assists and made three steals and Hunter Seacat added 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Aaron Levarity had 15 points and Tyler Nichols added 12 for Milligan, which has nine wins in the 29-year history of the all-time series, but has lost the last nine games by an average of more than 30 points.
