LOS ANGELES (AP) — Grammy-winning singer Al Jarreau (jah-ROH') has died in a Los Angeles hospital, just days after announcing his retirement from touring due to exhaustion. His official Twitter account and website say he died early today at age 76. Jarreau was hospitalized earlier in the week and was said to have been improving. The Wisconsin native has won seven Grammys over a 50-year career. His biggest single was 1981's "We're in This Love Together."
PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The White House continues to consider its next step after an appeals court refused to reinstate President Donald Trump's order temporarily blocking arrivals of refugees and citizens of seven countries. President Donald Trump's chief policy adviser, Stephen Miller, says "all options" remain on the table, including a Supreme Court appeal.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is hoping to have more members of his Cabinet on board this week. The Senate is scheduled to vote tomorrow evening on banker Steven Mnuchin (mih-NOO'-chin), Trump's pick to lead the Treasury Department. Also up for confirmation is Obama administration holdover David Shulkin to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs.
UNDATED (AP) — More than 3,000 flights have been canceled nationwide amid the latest round of winter storms, according to the flight tracking service FlightAware. The Northeast is bracing for a winter blast of snow and strong winds that could dump as much as 2 feet of snow in Maine and bring flooding to some coastal areas.
CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) — The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline has dropped a nickel nationally during the past three weeks, to $2.31. That's according to industry analyst Trilby Lundberg, who says the decline comes despite a slight rise in crude oil prices. Gas in Los Angeles was the highest in the continental United States at $2.87, while the lowest average was in Cleveland, Ohio, at $1.97 a gallon.
