SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah prison inmate has been charged with aggravated murder in the death of his cellmate, who was sentenced to prison as a teenager in the rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl.

Prosecutors say 26-year-old Julio Cesar Garza had shared a cell with the victim for less than a day when he beat him to death.

Garza had been serving time on aggravated robbery and other charges. No lawyer was listed for him Friday.

The 24-year-old victim Carlos-Adrian Javier Hernandez was sentenced to up to life in prison in the 2007 death of Keely Amber Hall. She was found strangled to death in a St. George park.

Authorities said Hernandez had met her earlier in the day and killed her after she refused his sexual advances.
