SAN FRANCISCO — Coming off its first 10-win season since joining the Pac-12, the Utah football team was predicted to finish third in the South Division according to the Pac-12 Preseason Media Poll released Thursday morning.
UCLA garnered the most votes in the Pac-12 South, followed by cross town rival USC.
Utah picked up two votes to win the division and also received one vote to win the Pac-12 Championship game from the 33 media member panel.
The Utes are tailed by Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado.
Meanwhile, the North division is led by Stanford, who for the first time in the 56-year history of the Pac-12 preseason media poll is predicted to win the conference title. The Cardinal are followed by Washington, Oregon, Washington State, Cal and Oregon State.
Stanford received 20 votes to win the conference title game, followed by USC with 5, Washington with 4, UCLA with 3 and Utah with 1.
The media poll has only correctly picked the winner of the conference twice out of the last nine years, though 29 of 55 overall.
The 2016 Pac-12 Football Championship Game will be on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. MT on FOX.
