LAS VEGAS (AP) — The mother of a 2-year-old child who drowned last year in a Las Vegas community hot tub has been sentenced to up to five years of probation for felony child neglect.

Vanessa Loftis sobbed during sentencing Monday in Clark County District Court and said the death wasn't intentional. She pleaded guilty in March.

Her lawyer, Chris Rasmussen, said Tuesday that his 35-year-old client looks forward to healing from what Rasmussen termed a family tragedy.

Surveillance video showed it took several minutes after Burke Honor Hall fell into the hot tub for his mother to find him.

The boy's father, Burke Hall, was at work at the time.
