SALT LAKE CITY — Isaac Monson had eight points and 15 rebounds and Olympus' boys basketball team outscored Timpview 17-7 in the third quarter to hold off the Thunderbirds 51-44 for the Titans' first Class 4A state championship in school history.
Olympus' Miles Keller came out on fire with two early 3-pointers to give the Titans an early lead during an active first quarter.
Timpview used a 14-2 run in the second quarter, highlighted by a 3-pointer from BYU commit Gavin Baxter, to give the Thunderbirds' their first lead following AJ Bollinger's trey.
Just before halftime, Levi Wilson capped off a great quarter with a 3-pointer to give the T-Birds a nine-point halftime lead.
But Olympus didn't panic. Keller, who finished with a team-high 14 points, four assists and four rebounds, helped the Titans get back into the game. Olympus used a 17-7 third-quarter run spurred by Monson's rebounding to take the lead.
The Titans never trailed again en route to the program's first-ever state title.
Gavin Baxter scored a game-high 18 points and added six rebounds for Timpview, which had just four scorers compared to Olympus' seven.
