SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County prosecutors have refiled a first-degree murder charge against a man who was accused of killing a Sparks woman in 2005 but never went to trial. Robert Ramirez has been taken into custody in connection with the death of Charlotte Szczepkowski.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Ohio Gov. John Kasich is bringing his Republican presidential campaign to northern Nevada for the first time next week. Kasich plans to meet with voters in Reno on Tuesday at the Washoe County Republican headquarters. Nevada's Republican caucuses are on Feb. 23.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Testimony has begun in the trial of a former storefront church pastor and international fugitive accused of sexually assaulting girls in his Henderson congregation under the guise of counseling. Otis Holland's defense attorney tells the jury the teenage girls accusing the former United Faith Church congregation leader of abusing them might have concocted stories because they thought they loved Holland.
KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) — The roads to Lake Mohave will be paved with a smoother surface. The National Park Service says improvements for roadways leading to the lake and Katherine Landing will begin Monday. The work is part of an $11 million construction project for Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Roads will be widened to 12-foot lanes with 2-foot shoulders.
