HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — A retired Davidson County teacher has been arrested on charges that he sexually molested a middle school student in the early 1980s.
Multiple media outlets reported that 71-year-old Thomas Tilman Cridlebaugh of High Point was arrested this week and charged with seven counts of second-degree sexual offense and three counts of first-degree sexual offense with a child.
Cridlebaugh is a former teacher at Ledford Middle School in Thomasville.
He was being held in the Davidson County jail. It was not clear if he has an attorney.
The State Bureau of Investigation said the victim whose allegations led to the arrest is now in his 40s. Agent Scott Williams said more than one victim has come forward. Williams did not say how many people have been interviewed.
