LAS VEGAS (AP) — The woman accused of murder in a Las Vegas home invasion apparently knew the disabled woman who escaped to call for help and claims she wasn't a part of the attack.
Police say Jennifer Mustachia, 33, faces murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, burglary and kidnapping charges after she was found Tuesday inside the home.
Edward Turner was found dead and his sister was hospitalized with a head gash.
The sister who uses a wheelchair told police that Mustachia was a friend who showed up with two men late Monday night and attacked them.
As Turner was hit in the head repeatedly with a crow bar, the sister said Mustachia hit her with a souvenir baseball bat and had told her to come watch her brother die.
The sister said in the police report that she met Mustachia at a hospital and that the woman owed her $1,500. She said she considered her a friend but hadn't seen Mustachia in a year.
But Mustachia told police that she went to the home alone, as she has done before to care for the sister. She claimed that the two men came in after her and that the sister may have mistakenly believed she was a part of the attack.
The sister said she was held hostage but escaped the house to a nearby convenience store to call police after Mustachia fell asleep.
Police said they are still looking for the two men.
