ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent will be allowed to join his teammates at the club's practice facilities two weeks earlier than the NFL originally ruled when suspending him.

Brent, who was convicted of intoxication manslaughter this year in the 2012 death of practice squad player Jerry Brown, is suspended for the first 10 games of the season. But Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says Brent will be at team headquarters on Monday "to continue everything but practicing with the team."

The NFL ruled this month that Brent had to stay away from team facilities for the first six weeks of the season unless it was to meet with rehab counselors.

Brent was sentenced to 180 days in jail but avoided a prison term.
