SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah basketball team released its 2014- 15 schedule Friday. It is highlighted by non-conference matchups against BYU, Kansas and UNLV.
The Runnin' Utes will begin play in an exhibition game against Pacific on Nov. 6 at the Huntsman Center. The Utes will open up its regular season against Ball State, who Utah beat last season 88-69, on Nov. 14 at the Huntsman Center.
"This non-conference schedule contains a challenging slate of games, both home and away," head coach Larry Krystkowiak said in a prepared statement. "We as a staff have a strong belief in this team and this schedule, while getting us ready for the rigors of Pac-12 play, will help us take the next step forward."

Other notable non-conference opponents include a home game against Wichita State on Dec. 3, the rivalry game against BYU in Provo on Dec. 10, a road trip to Big 12's Kansas on Dec. 13, and a final road game in Las Vegas to take on UNLV on Dec. 20 in the MGM Grand Showcase.
Utah will also host its annual multi-team event from Nov. 26-29, which includes North Dakota, Alabama State and Texas-Pan American.
Utah's Pac-12 schedule has not been finalized, but will feature home games against UCLA, USC, Colorado, Washington, Washington State, Stanford, Cal, Arizona and Arizona State. Utah will play Stanford, Cal, Oregon and Oregon State only once this season.
This season's non-conference schedule is a much-needed improvement from last year's schedule, which hurt the Utes as they looked for an invite into the NCAA tournament. Utah finished last season with an 11-1 non-conference schedule, losing by two points to Boise State on the road.
The Runnin' Utes were 18-2 at home last season, which was the most wins ever in one season at the Huntsman Center.
