CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — An independent panel that projects Nevada tax revenues will get an update from state agencies today. But the Economic Forum will not make any new forecasts on how much money the state will have in its coffers for the upcoming two-year budget cycle. That meeting comes later this year in advance of the 2015 Legislature.

UNDATED (AP) — Nevada's emissions from electrical power plants would be sliced more than 34 percent under new federal goals. The Obama administration is laying out plans to cut carbon dioxide emissions from power plants by 30 percent by 2030 to reduce global warming. Nevada generates about 73 percent of its power from cleaner-burning natural gas.

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — A 73-year-old Sparks man facing murder charges will have a bail hearing on June 12 after his public defender requested more time. A judge agreed to delay a bail hearing 10 days for a killing that has drawn attention to Nevada's "stand your ground law." Wayne Burgarello told police he acted in self-defense when he shot to men in a vacant duplex he owns. One died and the other was seriously wounded.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County officials are poised to hire architects for a new building for the agency that handles child protective, foster parent and adoption services. County commissioners will be asked today to approve a $440,000 contract with Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects to begin design work at the Clark County Government Center near downtown Las Vegas.
