As the community mourns the senseless murder of 7-year-old Hser Nay Moo, let us not forget another little Salt Lake City girl whose killer is yet to be found.

It has been almost 13 years since 6-year-old Rosie Tapia was mysteriously taken from her bedroom in the middle of the night, sexually assaulted and murdered. A few hours later, her little body was discovered floating in a surplus canal not far from the family's apartment.

As many as 15 detectives worked the case for a time, but without any success.

In view of all of the new crimes that demand police attention, it would be easy to forget Rosie Tapia. But, the image of her smiling face makes that difficult to do.

The community got a poignant reminder a couple of weeks ago of what happened to Rosie when authorities, joined by Meadow Gold and the girl's family, came together to announce a $30,000 reward for information that will lead to an arrest and conviction in this disturbing case.

799-INFO is the number to call with any information.

Hopefully, the reward will spawn new leads, and ultimately, a conclusion. So even as we mourn Hser Nay Moo, let the memory of Rosie Tapia remain vivid in our community's collective psyche.
