SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 30-year-old man has been arrested on a charge of first-degree murder in what police are calling the "senseless" death of a Chicago man in downtown Salt Lake City.
Police say Harlin Argelio Ramos was booked late Saturday afternoon into the Salt Lake County Jail in the stabbing death of 33-year-old Joaquin Gonzalez.
According to investigators, the victim and a female friend had returned to their vehicle early Saturday morning after attending a movie when they were approached in an "aggressive manner" by the suspect.
A fight erupted between the two men and Gonzalez died from his injuries.
Police Sgt. Robin Heiden told the Deseret News that the crime was "senseless" and "random," and Gonzalez was "just in the wrong place at the wrong time."
