BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Former Gov. Phil Batt is again urging the Legislature to add protections for gay, lesbian and transgender residents to the Idaho Human Rights Act. In an editorial he sent to media outlets, the Republican bucked his party colleagues in the legislature's majority. He wrote that not adding protections shows what he called Idaho's "disdain for people who are different than most of us." He says that's something that drives people, including his gay grandson, beyond the state's borders for more welcoming territory.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- The president of Idaho's largest public university is redoubling efforts to convince lawmakers to halt a bill seeking to allow concealed weapons on the state's college campuses. Boise State University President Bob Kustra yester raised the specter of people openly displaying firearms inside venues like Bronco Stadium and the Taco Bell Arena. The measure is backed by the NRA and 2nd Amendment advocates.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Treasurer Ron Crane may soon be getting help making sure taxpayers' money is safe after auditors rebuked him for inappropriately transferring tens of millions of dollars to state accounts where it was lost. The Senate is considering a measure to create a new advisory board to make sure Crane or future treasurers are appropriately managing accounts.

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Marvelle Harris scored 26 points, 20 of those in a dominating first half, and Fresno State stayed in control for a 76-56 victory over Boise State last night. The Bulldogs (15-14, 8-8 Mountain West) jumped out to a 21-point lead at halftime after shooting over 54 percent from the field. The Broncos shot 25 percent from the floor. Mikey Thompson led Boise State with 21 points.
