Ever heard of a little place called Silicon Slopes? It's right here in Utah, just past the Point of the Mountain. And it's quickly becoming a technology hotspot with big players like Adobe and IM Flash Technologies calling it home. Not to mention Cabela's is still a major draw, and Thanksgiving Point is just down the street.
A little over a year ago another big player opened their doors on Silicon Slopes, the Outlets at Traverse Mountain. Teri Sunderland, general manager of The Outlets at Traverse Mountain says it's been a fun and growing year for the outlets as they've now entered their second year of business.
The Outlets at Traverse Mountain are already impacting Utah in a big way, employing an average of 800 to 900 people. This is contributing to Utah's unemployment being one of the lowest in the nation at 4.3 percent. This is a diverse base of employees not just locals, but those willing to make the commute to be a part of an exciting new shopping venue.
Shoppers have consistently been surprised to find themselves in such a luxury shopping environment at the Outlets at Traverse Mountain.... Teri says it's not what people traditionally think of when they hear "outlet shopping".... There's a grand lobby with fireplace and sitting areas, covered walkways and a food court with an Italian bistro and gourmet burger shop.
The Outlets at Traverse Mountain has 50 stores and are in the process of building their next phase which will add another eight this spring and fall... They feature the first and only Under Armor outlet in Utah.... Plus, other popular stores include J Crew, QuickSilver and Oakley, DeLite, plus children's brands like OshKosh, Carter's and Gymboree....
Word about the Outlets at Traverse Mountain has been spreading organically through happy shoppers. But there's also an extensive marketing plan in place that has also been helping. Teri says in just one year they had over 2.1 million shopper visits and they anticipate the second will be even better.
