You know, I’m always a little amazed at the bounty of good Thai restaurants here in Utah. I’ve talked before about some of my favorites, including Thai Siam, Thai Garden, Monsoon Thai, Bangkok Thai, and Thai Delight, just to name a few. Well, I recently discovered a great new Thai restaurant for you folks in the Midvale-Sandy area.

It’s called Thai Spice, located in a shopping center just west of Hoppers in Midvale, on Ft. Union Boulevard at about 9th East. It might not look like much from the outside, but inside Thai Spice is a beautiful little restaurant with the sort of extra-friendly servers I’ve come to associate with Thai restaurants in general.

A great way to explore Thai flavors at Thai Spice restaurant is to stop by for lunch. Because from 11 to 3, Monday through Friday, Thai Spice offers up a killer lunch deal: For only $6.99 you get a choice of two entrees, a fried egg roll, a big portion of steamed jasmine rice, and a salad topped with a scrumptious peanut sauce dressing. Hey, if you think you can beat that deal … well, you should be tied up!

Thai Spice has lots of typical curry dishes that are popular in Thailand and they range from very mild to incendiary, depending and how spicy you like your food. And if you should overestimate your tolerance for hot and spicy food, don’t worry. Just be sure to order the Thai Spice ice cream dessert with exotic fruits. It’s a choice of vanilla, mango, chocolate, or strawberry ice cream topped with interesting Asian fruits like lychee, jackfruit, longan, and a strange looking but sweet one called rambutan.

That’s Thai Spice in Midvale – a great place to Thai it on.
