Top five most impressive wins this week

Woods Cross

We expected the game between Woods Cross and Sky View to be very competitive. Sky View had an impressive win over Hunter, played Brighton tough and looked to challenge Woods Cross with their fast-paced no-huddle offense. It didn't happen. Woods Cross had it's most impressive victory of the season. Skyler Farnes passed for more than 300 yards with half of the yards coming on two touchdown catches by Sean Barton. Filipo Mokofisi led the defense with an interception return for a touchdown and the Wildcats led 41-0 at halftime. They made a statement in the 41-14 victory as they now prepare for their biggest challenge of the season; a match-up with East on Friday night. South Summit

The 2A battle between No. 3 Millard and No. 4 South Summit wasn't even a battle. South Summit built a 30-0 lead by halftime and held the Eagles star running back Jesse Rhodes under 100 yards and 86 of his 92 yards rushing came on one play in the 2nd half. Hayden Packard scored three touchdowns to lead the Wildcats in the 30-7 victory. Dixie

The Flyers started their region schedule with a difficult test against Pine View and they passed with flying colors. They trailed 17-6 at halftime and 17-13 entering the 4th quarter. Blake Barney led the 4th quarter rally. He finished with 201 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns to go with a touchdown pass. Three of those four touchdowns came in the 4th quarter as the Flyers won Morgan

The rivalry between Morgan and Grantsville is intense and has been for many years. They met for the 76th time on Friday and this looked to be another competitive game between the two teams. Grantsville won last year's meeting 14-7 in overtime and the Trojans must have used that tough loss as motivation. They crushed the Cowboys 41-7 in their most impressive win of the year. This was after a tough loss the week before against Wasatch. Ben Saunders led the team with 110 yards rushing on just 3 carries and two touchdowns. Davis

We didn't expect many points to be scored when Davis took on Hunter on Friday and the Darts were certainly a favorite to win. What was so impressive about their victory was their defense. They intercepted five passes against a team that doesn't throw often and they shutout the Wolverines 23-0. If Davis continues to play defense like this they will be a tough team to beat in Region 1 and will be able to challenge Syracuse and Northridge for the region title. Top five performances of the week

Blake Barney QB Dixie

Barney came up big through the air and on the ground in a crucial 34-24 region win over Pine View. He rushed 19 times for 201 yards and three touchdowns and also completed 13 of 20 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown Dillon Nordhoff RB/DB Hillcrest

Nordhoff set a school record with a 98-yard touchdown run. He also had two interception returns for touchdowns in a 41-7 victory over Tooele. Diante Mitchell WR/DB Syracuse

Mitchell caught a touchdown pass on offense and had two picks on defense including a 34 yard interception return for a touchdown in a 31-14 win over Box Elder Mitch Phillips RB/DB Snow Canyon

Phillips got it done on both sides of the ball for the Warriors rushing for 220 yards and three touchdowns. He also intercepted a pass on defense. Sean Barton RB/DB Woods Cross

Barton has just two catches but both went for touchdowns including a 97-yard touchdown reception. He also opened the game with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown helping the Wildcats build a 41-0 halftime lead in their win over Sky View.
