Historic Cemeteries and Sites In Salt Lake

  1. Brigham Young's burial place, located at 140 E. First Ave., in Salt Lake City, within easy walking distance of Temple Square, is the small burial plot of Brigham Young and several members of his family. Also buried at the site is Eliza R. Snow. The Mormon Pioneer Memorial Monument, "All Is Well," created by Edward J. Fraughton, greets visitors at this plot. Also included at this location are monuments to Sister Snow, and William Clayton, who wrote the hymn, "Come, Come, Ye Saints."
  2. The Brigham Young park just across the street on the corner of 2nd Avenue and State Street is a commemorative park honoring Brigham Young. It sits within the original boundaries of Brigham Young's downtown property. There are statues and historic markers about Brigham Young.
  3. The Kimball-Whitney Family Cemetery is at 180 N Main Street - you get to it from a sidewalk between two apartment buildings. Buried at the cemetery are Heber C Kimball, Newel K Whitney, and many members of their families.
  4. The Beehive House and offices are located at 67 East South Temple. The Beehive House was home to three church presidents - Brigham Young, Lorenzo Snow, and Joseph F. Smith. Doctrine and Covenants 138 was received in the home. The adjacent offices functioned as church headquarters from 1852-1918 when the Church Administration Building was built.
