The first Artemis Fowl book from Irish author Eoin Colfer is to be translated into Irish by Maire Nic Mhaolain, the translator responsible for the Irish versions of the Harry Potter books.

Colfer's range of Artemis Fowl books are published by Puffin and tell the story of boy genius Artemis, his criminal plots and his discovery of the world of the fairies.

The Irish translation is scheduled for release in Spring 2006. According to Ireland Online, the Artemis Fowl titles have sold more than half a million copies in the UK, with the rights for the film version having been purchased by Miramax films.
