SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police have released the name of the man who they say barricaded himself inside an apartment during a SWAT standoff.
Police arrested Wayland Talbert, 33, of Galveston, Texas, late Sunday. They also recovered a BB gun, which investigators said Talbert used during the incident, according to Gary Keller of the South Salt Lake Police Department.
Keller said Talbert got into a fight with his girlfriend and held a gun to her head. Talbert then barricaded himself in an apartment and eventually surrendered peacefully, Keller said.
Keller said Talbert’s girlfriend, who lives in South Salt Lake, was not injured in the incident.
Talbert was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of two counts of domestic aggravated assault, a third-degree felony, and one count of terroristic threats, a class B misdemeanor.
