SALT LAKE CITY — Mitt Romney looks the part of a presidential candidate but several political analysts say he isn't connecting with voters.

"The one thing I haven't seen from Mitt Romney is how he is imperfect in any way." Chris Thomas

Chris Thomas with the Intrepid Agency told KSL's Nightside Romney is not the type that people could imagine chatting with across the backyard fence. Thomas said one reason could be that Romney doesn't seem vulnerable enough -- everything is too perfect.

"The one thing I haven't seen from Mitt Romney is how he is imperfect in any way," Thomas said. "I mean, it seems like he plays himself up just to be greater than good, and we all know that we have our shortcomings and weaknesses. I'd like to see that other side from him."

But Thomas said trying to appear more approachable is not easy. He said Romney needs to relax during today's GOP debate and be himself instead of trying to appear as a polished politician.

However, Thomas warned that if Romney took a drastic step to appear more neighborly, such as putting on a Rick Santorum-like sweater vest, it would probably backfire.
